Michael H. Clark, 71, of Independence, KS passed away at Jane Phillips Hospital, October 16, 2016.

The family will receive friends at 2:00 pm, Saturday, October 22 at Epiphany Episcopal Church, Independence, with a Celebration of Life Gathering following at the VFW, Independence at 4:00 pm.
The family has suggested that memorials be offered to the local AWOL chapter.

Mike was born December 3, 1944 in Nowata, Oklahoma, son of C.C. and Letha (Helvie) Clark. He grew up in Buffalo, WY and Russell, KS, later moving to Peru, KS. He graduated from Caney Valley High School. Mike attended ICC and Wichita State, and earned a degree in BS in Human Resources Management from Friends University.

Mike married Linda (Brake) Unruh on January 3, 1985. This marriage joined together two families, Mike's daughters Jennifer, Sarah, Elizabeth; and Linda's son Zach.

As a young adult Mike worked in the family business managing regional hair salons and later owned and operated the Independence Beauty College and The Clip Joint. Mike enjoyed teaching Cosmetology courses for several years at Independence Community College where he served as Director of Cosmetology.

Mike lived his life to the fullest, he had a great sense of humor. He enjoyed a variety of hobbies throughout his adult life, participating in the Kansas Kustom Ltd. car club, playing golf at the Independence Country Club, and completing an unending list of projects in the garage after his retirement. Mike was an accomplished artist and an avid reader with an insatiable thirst for trivia and information. Those that knew Mike well would attest to his high energy and spirit and his joy for spending time with family and friends, best evidenced by his devotion to his wife, Linda.

Mike is survived by his wife Linda, his daughters Jennifer Hastings, of Tulsa, OK, Sarah Clark of Mesa, AZ, Elizabeth Clark of Phoenix, AZ, his stepson Zach Unruh and wife Melissa Unruh of Independence, KS, and eight grandchildren.
