Samuel was a U.S. Army Veteran and retired from Harshaw Chemical Company, in Elyria, OH. He attended Southside Baptist Church and was a member of Steer Run Baptist Church.
He is survived by his sister in-law, Geraldine Prunty; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Samuel was preceded in death by seven brothers, Boyd James, Parker James, Justus James, David James, Butcher James, John James and W.T. James; and three sisters, Mildred White, Bliss Smith and Mary Alltop.
Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St, south Parkersburg with Reverend Jim Yoak officiating. Burial will follow at Meadow Lane Cemetery in Gilmer County. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Tuesday at the funeral home.
