Born Sept. 18, 1938, in Newton Hamilton, Mifflin County, the daughter of the late Lewis D. and Marquetta (Shaffer) Boone.
Ms. Coons is survived by a son, Chris A. Coons, and wife, Michelle, of Canon City, Colorado; four grandchildren, Cory Coons, Chasity Burdine, Renaud Grizzle and Nicole Batres; and five great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by seven siblings, Ronald Boone and wife Jenny, Richwood, Texas, Terry Boone, Langhorne, Rick Lightner, Texas, Robert Boone and wife, Nicole, Robertsdale, and Dixie McNerlin and husband, Ronald, Mary "Cookie" Suders and husband, Terry, and Nick Lightner, all of Mapleton; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Daniel Boone.
Ms. Coons was of the Methodist faith.
She was a graduate of Captain Jack High School, Mount Union.
Ms. Coons had worked most recently at Treasure House Preschool in Mount Union, and while in Texas, she had owned and operated restaurant for 30 years. In her earlier adult years, she was employed at L. Greif Bros. Mgf., Mount Union.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2019, at Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, with Joseph Barrett, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the Mapleton IOOF Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the funeral home from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday.
