Raymond D. Hoots, 91, of Manteno, passed away June 8, 2019, at the Illinois Veterans Home at Manteno.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Saturday, June 22, until the 11 a.m. memorial service at Brown Funeral Home in Manteno. Cremation rites will be accorded. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Manteno.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Raymond was born Feb. 9, 1928, in Winchester, the son of Albert R. Hoots and Ida Dale (Ruark) Hoots. He married Barbara Irene Judy on Sept. 25, 1953, in Tiskilwa. She preceded him in death Nov. 6, 2005.
He attended Winchester Public Schools and American School Career and Employment.
Raymond was a lifelong carpenter and retired from Uniroyal Inc. at the Joliet Arsenal in Elwood.
He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1946 during World War II and from 1949 to 1952 during the Korean War and obtained the rank of sergeant.
Raymond loved spending time with his family and playing bingo with his many friends. He was a lifelong member of Manteno Sportsmen’s Club and Manteno Legion Post 755.
Surviving are a son, Dale (Sherry) Hoots, of Manteno; daughters, Sharon (Cliff) Hamilton, of Manteno, and Kathy (William) Corlett, of Palatine; 11 grandchildren, Brian (Tonya) Hoots, Mark (Lindsay) Hoots, Tim (Priscilla) Hoots, Eric (Laura) Hoots, Anthony (Kristen) Hoots, Craig (Jennifer) Lamore, Matthew (Sherry) Lamore, Jennifer Melville, Carolyn Jo (Jonathan) Ramirez, Jason (Jeannie) Hamilton and Bill (Stephanie) Corlett; 19 great-grandchildren; nephews, Darrell Walk, of Illinois, and Ed, Russell and David Walk, of California; and sisters-in-law, Janet Wagner, of Tiskilwa, and Joann Coers, of New Holland.
In addition to his wife, Barbara, he was preceded in death by his parents, Albert R. Hoots and Ida Dale (Ruark) Hoots; sister, Charlotte Walk; daughter, Judy Lamore; and son-in-law, Robert Lamore.
