Vernon Brooks Martin, age 72, of 156 Bison Drive, Maysville, WV went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at his home. He was born December 4, 1946 in Petersburg, WV and was a son of the late James Vernon Martin and Clara Fae (Bible) Martin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Nathan Rohrbaugh; one brother, Robert “Bobby” Martin; mother-in-law, Barbara Landis.

Brooks is survived by his wife, Lori (Landis) Martin; three sons, Steve and Rebecca Martin of Maysville, WV; Bryce Berg and fiancee’ Lindsay Hawk of Maysville, WV, Brett and Brianne Berg of Fort Ashby, WV; two daughters, Christina Dawson of Gerrardstown, WV and Connie and Andy Rohrbaugh of Bunker Hill, WV; six grandchildren, Cesiley Thorson and husband Ray, Colton Rohrbaugh, Taylor, Skylar and Tyler Martin and Avery Hawk; two great grandchildren, Kaleb and Aiden Thorson; one sister, Betty Rohrbaugh and husband Jimmy of Maysville, WV; sister-in-law, Diana Martin of Maysville, WV; nephew, Chris Rohrbaugh and wife Autumn of Keyser, WV.

Brooks was a heavy equipment operator for 52 years. He was a member of Cornerstone Family Fellowship where he served on the deacon board the past 16 years. He was a member of the NRA. His hobbies were gardening, camping, hunting, fishing, farming, woodworking, and riding his mule. He was known for his generous “Hugs”.

Family will receive friends Saturday, June 8, 2019 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at Cornerstone Family Fellowship, Petersburg, WV.

Funeral service will be Sunday, June 9, 2019 at 2 PM at Cornerstone Family Fellowship Church with Pastor P. J. Landis and Pastor Dave Kidwell officiating. Burial will follow in Beulah Land Cemetery, Maysville, WV.
