Orvil J Musgrove, 92, longtime resident of Sowell Hollow Road, died Friday, May 17, 2019 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services for Mr. Musgrove will be conducted Monday at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Brother Roger Creecy and Brother J.B. Higgins officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Giles County with military honors provided by the Giles County Honor Guard. The family will visit with friends Monday from 12:00 P.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Rose Hill Cemetery in care of Calvin Johnson, 10309 Campbellsville Pike, Pulaski, TN 38478. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com.

Born June 6, 1926 in Giles County, he was the son of the late Christopher Columbus Musgrove and the late Mary Rogers Musgrove. On December 4, 1952, he married Dorothy Marie “Dottie” Russell Musgrove. He served in the United States Army Signal Corps from 1952 to 1954 during the Korean War, and earned the ranking of Corporal. After the Army, Mr. Musgrove worked as a service technician for 37 years for AmeriGas. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, farming, quail hunting, and gardening. Mr. Musgrove was a longtime member of the Rose Hill Freewill Baptist Church, where he served for many years as Treasurer of the building fund.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Dorothy Marie “Dottie” Russell Musgrove of Columbia; daughter, Susan Musgrove of Columbia; son, Jeff Musgrove of Franklin, TN; six grandchildren, Nathan Musgrove of Cincinnati, OH, Brent (Erin) Musgrove of Atlanta, GA, Jake Musgrove of Atlanta, GA, Zac Musgrove of Franklin, TN, Emily Musgrove of Atlanta, GA, and Caitlin Musgrove of Franklin, TN.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Russell Musgrove; daughters-in-law, Karen Musgrove and Lisa Musgrove; brothers, Logan Musgrove, Clyde Musgrove, Thomas Musgrove; sisters, Pauline Vincent, Mildred Patterson, and Lila Mae Patterson.

The Giles County Honor Guard will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will include members of Rose Hill Freewill Baptist Church.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors and nurses in the critical care unit at Maury Regional Medical Center.
