Billy Wayne Hefner, age 76, passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2019 in Kermit.
Billy was born on March 16, 1943 to Ernest and Rose Jewel (Adair) Hefner in Hagerman, NM.
Billy married Peggy Bledsoe on October 19, 1963 in Hagerman, NM and they celebrated 55 years together.
Billy was a member of Grace Temple Baptist Church. He was a 4H leader and he was gardener, avid hunter, and fisherman. He also enjoyed playing dominos; making knives, and he was not a stranger to anyone. Billy was the best dad and papa ever.
Billy is survived by his sons: J.J. Hefner and wife Stacy of Kermit, TX; and Bill Mike Hefner and Tonia Chance of Kermit, TX; one daughter: Charlotte Araujo and her husband Eddie of Kermit, TX; brother: Butch Hefner and his wife JoAnn of Roswell, NM; sisters: Betty Derrick and her husband Dave of Roswell, NM; and Lequitta Brown of Roswell, NM; grandchildren: Danielle Banuelos, Ashly Haas, Chris Martz, Katie Mitchell, Kenna Hendrick, Jaycie Thames, Gracie Hefner, Chandra Adkins, Buffy Dempsey, Jessica Ingram, and 12 great-grandchildren.
Billy was preceded in death by his wife: Peggy Hefner, parents: Ernest and Rose Jewel Hefner and a brother: Tearil Hefner.
A visitation will start at 10am to 8pm Monday, June 3, 2019 and 8am to 8pm Tuesday, June 2, 2019 at the Family Service Funeral Parlor.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00am on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at Grace Temple Baptist Church with Lonnie Cleveland officiating. Burial will follow in Kermit Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Christopher Martz, Brandon Haas, Junior Banuelos, Matt Hendrick, Casey Thames and Richard Mitchell.
Honorary pallbearers are: Joe Chance, Mike Chance, Larry Antley, Larry Punneo, Johnny LaLonde, Joe Felts, Mort Bates, and Jerry Sharp.
