93 years of age, Mrs. Vernon formerly lived on 10th Ave. in Mayodan. She was the daughter of the late Will and Mollie Varner Griffin, and was retired from Washington Mills. Her husband, Reginald Elvis Vernon, preceded her in death in 1998, as well as several brothers and sisters. She was survived by her two sons, Perry Vernon of Mayodan, and Lynn Vernon of Madison, as well as two grandsons, and three gr-grandchildren.
