Merkel - Lawrence Breeden, 93, died Sunday, June 17, 2007 in a local nursing center. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Rose Hill Cemetery in Merkel with Reverend Charles Dunnam officiating, directed by Starbuck Funeral Home.

Lawrence was born April 28, 1914 in Haskell to William Archibald and Mattie Orilla Adams Breeden. He married Lois Key on March 6, 1952 in Lovington, NM. She preceded him in death in 1995. Lawrence was a member of St. James United Methodist Church in Abilene. He worked for the city of Colorado City in the Streets and Water Dept. for 15 years and for Colorado City Sand and Gravel for 10 years. He also worked for the Texas Dept. of Transportation in maintenance for 7 years. He loved his grandchildren.

Survivors include his son, Terry Breeden and wife Brenda of Abilene; 3 grandchildren, Mindy King and husband Justin of Richardson, James Breeden and wife Amanda of Anna and Sheila Kitts and husband Carey of Abilene.
