Mrs. Emeline Serfass, an aged and highly respected resident of the west end of Monroe county, passed away on Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock at the home of her son, John, of Dottersville. She had been making her home for a number of years with her son at Gilberts.
The aged woman was 81 years, 6 months, and 26 days old and was a native of the Gilberts region. She was a member of the Gilberts Reformed church. Her late husband, William Serfass, was a farmer for many years.
The funeral will be held on Saturday at 9:30 o'clock from the home of the son in Dottersville, the body being conveyed to Gilberts, where further services and interment will take place. Rev. Smith of the Gilberts Reformed church will be the officiating clergyman.
Mrs. Serfass had gone to Dottersville two weeks ago.
She leaves 48 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren, also the following daughters: Mrs. Diana Dinstel, of Noxen; Amanda Serfas, of Dallas; Mrs. Mary Diehl, of Allentown; Mrs. Emma Frantz, Lehighton; Mrs. Hattie Heckman, of Lehighton, and the following sons: Joseph, Amos, William R., all of Gilberts; John of Dottersville, and Mrs. William Zacharias, of Dottersville.
