"Together Again" Funeral services for James H. Smith, 84, will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Spear-Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Ave., Painesville. Mr. Smith passed away Sept. 4, 2009, at Lake East Medical Center in Painesville. Born April 7, 1925, in West Union, W. Va., he was a resident of Painesville for most of his life.
He enjoyed watching NASCAR racing as well as all other car and truck racing. He also loved sitting on his porch and spending time with his family. Mr. Smith retired as a machinist from Joseph Dyson Co. in Painesville.
Survivors include his son, Michael Smith of Painesville; daughters, Julia Cody of Painesville, Jennifer (Ed) Brymer of Painesville Sharon (Jim) Mansell of Willoughby; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; brother, Charles Smith of Mentor; and sister, Betty Ball of Madison.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl (Szekley) Smith in 2008; daughters, Robbin L. Smith and Priscilla Pierce; parents, Charles and Ida (Hall) Smith, sisters, Helen Brady, Kathleen Seckman and Patricia Simons; and brother, Earl William.
Calling hours will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Spear-Mulqueeny Funeral Home in Painesville, with the Rev. Robert Gaston officiating at services. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Painesville. Contributions may be made to the family; envelopes are available at the funeral home.
