Robert Mitchell was the son of Robert Mitchell (1724-1758) and Hannah Ball Mitchell (1728-1769). He was an overseer for Robert "Councillor" Carter before marrying Carter's daughter Priscilla. Robert and Priscilla had two children, Robert Tasker Mitchell and Harriet Bladen Mitchell. Harriet married William James Weir and inherited a large portion of the Libra or Cancer farm from her father, whereupon she and her husband, in 1825, built the Liberia plantation.

Gravesite Details

Contributor Dal Mallory (46586597) says that Robert and his wife are buried in a cemetery near Cat Point Creek on the Grove Mount property. Descendants informed him that the graves are marked, but he has not been able to locate their actual location.
