He had been bedfast for six weeks. He was converted and united with the Mt Pleasant Baptist church at an early age. He was united in marriage to Elvira Wallace on August 5, 1869, who preceded him in death March 2, 1924, This union was blessed with twelve children, two dying in infancy, and one son Arthur passed on December 5. 1918. He is survived by the following children: Mrs. Charles VanEaton, Colorado Springs, Colo.; Mrs John Reeves, Springfield, Mo.; Mrs. C. B. Norris, Lockwood; Mrs. Arden Hoover, Roy, and Earl of Everton; Clarence, Lennie and Guy of Greenfield; 27 grandchildren and one greatgrandchild, also three brothers who live in Everton; one sister and a host of friends.
The deceased made friends where ever he went; he had a kind and generous disposition. He was a kind and loving husband, father and grandfather. Funeral services were held at Liberty Baptist church, three miles west of Everton, Sunday afternoon. It was in the community where the deceased had resided for many years. The sermon was delivered by Rev. L. A. Foster, pastor of Lockwood Baptist church. The hymns were sung by a quartet from the local church and composed of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar J. Parminter, Mrs. Hubert Middleton and Dewey Knier. Burial was at the cemetery near the church, under direction of Ray Caldwell, local undertaker."
