He owned Bethel Cleaners in Greenville and he was a member of Pond River Masonic Lodge #244.
He was an Army veteran of World War II serving in the Asian Pacific Conflict, having served in seven major battles, and receiving the Purple Heart and seven Bronze Stars.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years Lois Fearn Bethel on April 3, 2018, his parents, 2 brothers Charles Bethel and Bob Bethel.
Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Fairfield, IL. Masonic Services will be held Friday, May 31, 2019 at 4:30pm at Gary’s Funeral Home.
