Mrs. Truella H. Farthing, age 69, passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2003 at Burke County Medical Center in Waynesboro, Georgia. Entombment services will be held on Monday, December 15, 2003 at 3 p.m. at Bellevue Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with the Reverend William J. Sexton officiating.
Mrs. Farthing , eldest daughter of Charlie and Ethel Hodge, was a native of Johnson County, Tennessee. She lived in the Augusta, Georgia area since 1975 and attended Whispering Pines Baptist Church in Hephzibah, Georgia. Family members include two sons, Robert Rhea Farthing, Jr., Hephzibah, Georgia; Mark Daniel Farthing, Hephzibah, Georgia; one daughter, Karen Farthing Crabtree, Utica, Kentucky; two brothers, Norman "Bud" Hodge, North Carolina and Paul Hodge, West Virginia; two sisters, Ruth Perry and Hazel Stegall, Tennessee; and three grandchildren, Heather Farthing, Melissa Farthing, Hephzibah, Georgia and Nathan Crabtree, Utica, Kentucky. Mrs. Farthing studied the King James Bible daily, enjoyed television westerns and played hymns and gospel music on the piano. She attended East Tennessee State University and was a school teacher before becoming an Army wife and having children.
