Leland "Jim" Huyck, 86 of Moran Township passed away early Tuesday morning, May 21 as he was getting ready to go to coffee, in his car in the driveway of his home on Old Portage Road. He was born in ST.Ignace on February 14,1933 to Ford and Hanna (Greenless) Huyck. He graduated from LaSalle High School and served in the US Air Force during the Korean War. He owned and operated Huycks Body Shop on Portage Road for over 40 years. Jim loved to hunt and especially fish, and was fishing a few days before his untimely death. He is a member of the American Legion, Moose Lodge #999 and the United Methodist Church.
He Married Geraldine Leonard on September 5,1958 and she survives; also sons, Shane and Wayne both of St.Ignace, a sister, Delores (Clifford) Marshall, St.Ignace and 3 grandsons. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a son, David in 1980, and a sister, Fern Durm.
At the family request no services will be held. Burial of his ashes will be in Gros Cap Cemetery with private family services at a later date.
