Sylvia Lyn McIntyre, of Lake Jackson, TX, went to her Heavenly home on May 22, 2019. She was born to Argin Ray and Evelyn Carruth on Sept 1, 1934 in Freeport, TX. Sylvia married her childhood friend and love of her life, William Ernest McIntyre, Jr. on November 12, 1955, in Monterrey, Mexico. They were blessed to celebrate 61 years of marriage prior to his passing. She believed that the secret to a successful marriage was to laugh together often…and that they did. She found joy and fulfillment in her life's calling of making a happy home for her husband and children, and did so with great success. Sylvia kept a full heart and a full house. Nothing brought her more joy than having the people she loved, and the people they loved, gathered together in her and Billy's lakefront home. She created a safe, welcoming, and joyful space for those who needed one, and opened her home to many throughout the years. Sylvia was a vivid and enthusiastic storyteller. Her grandchildren spent many afternoons curled up next to her, hanging on to every word. She loved sharing stories about when she was a little girl; about her parents, the "olden days", and her sister-friend Juanita who continued to be a part of her adventures to the end. She lit up when introducing her family, friends, and characters in her past to those who lived in her present. Through her stories she kept the memory of so many loved ones alive; and through her stories, her memory will live on for generations to come. Left to cherish Sylvia's memory are her four children: son Doug McIntyre & wife Susan of Lake Jackson; daughter Lisa & husband Mike Brannan of Lake Jackson; son Brad McIntyre & wife Dana of Lake Jackson, and son Mark McIntyre & wife Michelle of Houston. Grandchildren: Michael, Melissa (Jason Gigax) and Matt Lummus, Emily (Patrick) Spencer and Elliott (Julia) McIntyre, John Silcott, Jackson, Jordan and John Austin McIntyre, Will, Dylan and Isabel McIntyre, Jacob (Holly) and Shelby Schultz, and Blair and Beau Brannan. Great-grandchildren: Kaylyn-Ray and Bradley Spencer and Everett McIntyre. Sylvia is also survived by a sister-in-law, Jo-Sue Allen, niece Amy Allen-Dover and nephew Russell Allen and other extended family whom she held dear. Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband Bill McIntyre, mother Evelyn Carruth, father Argin Carruth, brother Hunter Lee Carruth and nephew Hunter Lee Carruth, Jr. The family would like to thank her church, special friends, caregivers, and the dedicated staff of Garden Terrace. Visitation will be Saturday, May 25th at First Baptist Church Lake Jackson, TX from 2 pm – 3 pm. Funeral services will be held at the church at 3 pm, followed by cemetery services at Restwood Memorial Park Outdoor Chapel. Pallbearers are grandsons Michael Lummus, Elliott McIntyre, Matt Lummus, Jackson McIntyre, John Silcott, John Austin McIntyre, Will McIntyre and Dylan McIntyre. Memorial donations may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 1776 Yorktown Street, Suite 560, Houston, TX 77056 or www.jdrf.org. Online memorial condolences may be sent to www.restwoodfuneralhome.com.
