Roberta Newcomb Brown, 91, of Grand Island passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 12, 2019, at the Wedgewood Care Center.

A private family graveside service will be held later at the family plot in the Fairview Cemetery at Cambridge. Lockenour-Jones Mortuary is entrusted with arrangements.

She was born Oct. 4, 1927, to Lester and Leila (Davison) Taylor near Moorfield. In 1938, she moved to Pawnee City and made her home with her mother and stepfather, William Tannyhill, and his three daughters.

In 1945, she married George Newcomb and they made their home, farming in Cambridge and Curtis, where they raised their five children. They farmed until 1966, when they sold the farm and relocated to Aurora. George passed away in 1989. Roberta was employed by Century Manufacturing in Aurora for many years.

In 1990, Roberta and Harvey Brown were united in marriage and made their home in Curtis and North Platte. Harvey passed away in 2004, at which time Roberta moved to Grand Island to be closer to her children.

She will be fondly remembered for her lovely crocheted doilies, famous cherry pies and her homemade noodles, a favorite of everyone, young and old.

Roberta is survived by her children, son, George Newcomb Jr. of Grand Island and daughters, Linda and husband, James Naeve, of Lincoln, Debra and husband, Robert Walker, of Grand Island and Patricia and husband, Ivan Gaeten, of St. Augustine, Fla.; stepsister, Alice Hendricks of Hot Springs, Ark.; and stepchildren, Leta Naber of Greeley, Colo., and Terry and wife, Connie, Brown of Gering.

Roberta was blessed with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, of whom she was very proud.
