Alma Dorothy McMeekan, 85, Coal Valley, died Sunday, Dec. 17, 2000, at Heartland Health Care Center, Moline.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Greenview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel, East Moline, The Rev. Tim Snart will officiate. Interment will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens.
Visitation is 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Kirk, Huggins and Esterdahl Funeral Home Ltd., Orion. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, Coal Valley.
Alma Dorothy Beck was born Sept. 25, 1915, in Rural Township, Rock Island County, the daughter of Earnest and Effie Long Beck. She married Virgil E. McMeekan Dec. 23, 1983. He preceded her in death on Sept. 18, 1994.
For many years, Dorothy had been employed as a pharmacist's assistant at the Milan Drug Store, retiring in 1982.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Roy and Dolores Douglas, Coal Valley; grandsons and spouses, Craig and Kimberly Douglas, Viola, and Mark and Lia Douglas, Arlington Heights, Ill.; great-grandchildren, Faith and Clayton Douglas, Viola; many special nieces and nephews; and a dear friend, Sally Grchan, Moline.
