Jerry Hardin Sheriff
Mr. Jerry Hardin Sheriff age 76 of Toccoa passed away Friday May 23, 2019 at Brookside Assisted Living in Commerce.
A son of the late Marvin and Morene Adams Sheriff, he was born February 21, 1943 in Stephens County, where he lived all his life. A 1961 graduate of Stephens County High School and served in the Georgia National Guard for a number of years. He was a retired salesman and member of Masonic Lodge #309 and the Toccoa Shrine Club. He was a charter member of Toccoa Hunting Club and a former member of Toccoa Lions Club. He was a member of Toccoa First Baptist Church and was preceded in death by a brother Jimmy Sheriff.
Survivors include his wife Judy Oliver Sheriff of the home, two daughters and son-in-law Stephanie Sheriff and Kristy and Brett Steele of Toccoa, one granddaughter Ada Steele, two brothers and sisters-in-law Truett and Wanda Sheriff of Martin and Joe and Sandy Sheriff of Lavonia, four sisters and brothers-in-law Irene Shore of Augusta, Latrelle Todd of Lawrenceville, Judy and Roger Looney of Martin, Marie and Jerry Baldwin of Lavonia and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Sunday May 26, 2019 at 3 P.M. at First Baptist Church with the Reverend Jerrell Beatty and the Reverend David Ritcey officiating. The family will be at the home and will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Saturday from 6 P.M. til 8 P.M.
Interment will follow in Stephens Memorial Gardens
Flowers are to be omitted and memorials be made to the Alzheimers Association 41 Perimeter Center East, Suite 550 Atlanta, Georgia 30346 or Cystic Fibrosis Foundation 57 Executive Park Suite 380 Atlanta, Georgia 30328 Attn. Rachel Kavabenli in honor of Ada Steele.
