Wayne Gregory, 83, of Springfield, MO, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2019. He was born July 18, 1935 in Cherryville, MO to Jesse and Lottie (Weber).
Wayne began his 40+ year career with Frisco Railroad (Later known as BNSF). He served in the US Army with the 101st Airborne Div in Ft. Campbell, KY. This is where he married Jessie Mai Mackey in 1959. He was a long time member of Immanuel Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school for 42 years. He also enjoyed singing in the choir. He also served as a part-time Treasurer for the Frisco Credit Union. He dedicated much of his time to ensuring the success of the credit union – Which is now Metro Credit Union. He served on the board 50 years. He was deeply honored when MCU dedicated “Wayne Gregory Day” in honor of his service.
Wayne enjoyed serving his community and volunteered with the Meals on Wheels program, and he enjoyed watching Cardinals Baseball and the Lady Bears’ Basketball. He also enjoyed bicycle riding and quilting. He rode his bike daily, picking up trash along his favorite routes.
He is preceded in death by his parents; Jesse Gregory & Lottie Weber-Gregory, his wife; Jessie Mackey-Gregory, and sister-in-law; Anita Gregory.
He is survived by his daughter; Tammy Gregory-Daughtrey, grandson; Austin Cariveau and brothers; Tom & Audrey Gregory; Lathan & Barbara Gregory; Paul & Gaylene Gregory, and sister; Alice & Robert Morton.
