She was born February 6, 1927, in the Ozark Mountains, to Marcus A. West and Ollie Thornton West.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John G. Begley, Jr., and brothers, Jewel West, Vernon West, Elton West and Doyle West, and sister, Carl Smith.
Violet was a Christian her whole life and attended Indianhead Lake Baptist Church. She was very active in the community and worked at the polling booth in Sherwood for many years. She retired from the Pulaski County school system.
She is survived by daughter, Gwen B. Books and husband Keith of Cabot; son, J. Marcus Begley and wife Connie of Fairfield Bay; five grandchildren, Hayne, Avery, Bowie, Kathryn and Austin; and 1 great-granddaughter, Addison.
Saturday, May 25, funeral services at 2:00 p.m. at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills, 7724 Landers Road, North Little Rock.
