MR. BISHOP
LANETT - Mr. Ronnie Bruce Bishop, 71, of Lanett died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012 at George H. Lanier Memorial Hospital in Valley.
Funeral services are planned for Tuesday, Dec. 18 at 2 p.m. at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley with the Revs. Tony Ritcherson and Donald Rice officiating. Burial will follow at Shawmut Cemetery.
Mr. Bishop is survived by his wife, Renee Adams Bishop of Lanett; two daughters, Julie Rudd of Beulah and Teresa Butler of Tuscaloosa; a sister, Merrill Baker of Opelika; and several nieces and nephews.
Born Feb. 22, 1941 in Shawmut, Mr. Bishop was the son of the late Bruce and Cassie Bishop. He had retired from the Valley Police Department and had previously worked with the Auburn University and City of Auburn police departments. Mr. Bishop had also worked for the state of Alabama as a corrections officer. He attended Shawmut First Baptist Church and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and the Alabama Peace Officers Association. Mr. Bishop was preceded in death by his brother, Byron Bishop.
The family will receive friends Monday from 6 until 8 p.m. at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley.
