APPALACHIA, VA - Wilma Nell Fannon, 68, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 20, 2019 at her home with her loving family by her side.
Nell was raised in Inman, VA. and has lived most of her life in Stonega, VA. She was a Shoe Department Manager with Wal-Mart, having worked 28 years in many area locations. She was a faithful member of Appalachia Pentecostal Church. She and Larry loved to travel, especially going to the beach and taking cruises. Nell loved to watch her grandchildren play high school and college sports. Not having a daughter herself, Nell was honored to have her daughters-in-law, Lisa and Alicia, as her own.
Mrs. Fannon was preceded in death by her parents, John and Gloria Stidham.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Larry Fannon of the home; sons, Randy Fannon (Lisa), Abingdon,VA., and Barry Fannon (Alicia), Big Stone Gap. VA.; brother, Carl “Johnny” Stidham, Big Stone Gap, VA.; sisters, Doris Wallace, Big Stone Gap, VA., and Reba Lawson (Danny), Pennington Gap, VA. Nell is also survived by four grandchildren: Shaine & Justin and Cameron & Christian Fannon, several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 5:00 -7:00pm, Thursday, May 23rd, 2019 at Gilliam Funeral Home Chapel, 618 Wood Avenue W., Big Stone Gap, VA. The funeral service will follow with Dr. Roy Smith and Rev. Rick Phillips officiating.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 24, 2019, at Powell Valley Memorial Gardens, 5650 Powell Valley Road, Big Stone Gap, VA. Those attending the graveside services are asked to meet at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery at 10:15am.
Pallbearers will be: Shaine Fannon, Justin Fannon, Cameron Fannon, Christian Fannon, Jamie Wallace and Chad Hammonds.
