Richard "Dick" C. Turpin of Emporia entered into rest Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City. He was 80.

Dick was born March 2, 1939 in Olpe, Kansas to Walter Maxwell and Fern Louise (Uhl) Turpin. He served as a BT3 from 1956 to 1960 in the U.S. Navy.

Dick is preceded in death by his parents, Walter Turpin and Fern Clark; brother, James Turpin; sisters, Marian Mathena and Ruth Borden. He is survived by his wife, Sheila Turpin of the home; daughter, Diana (Zane) Brown; Grandchildren, April (Matt) Dickason, Stephanie (Raymond) Reyes, and Luke (Ashely) Brown; Great Grandchildren, Aaliyah Turpin, Jaylin Dickason, Eric Yanez, Zane Brown, Adriana Yanez, and Yelena Brown; brother, Danny Turpin of Joplin, MO.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at Charter Funerals. A Funeral Service will be officiated by Reverend James Scott at 10:00 a.m. at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 315 S. Commercial St. Wednesday, May 29, 2019 with burial to follow at Chicago Mound Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the Cornerstone Baptist Church or to the Friends of the Zoo in care of Charter Funerals.
