The son of Valentine and Martha (Kolb) Schaefer and husband of Catherine Lammlein, John resided on Forrest Avenue and was a retired seedsman at Hall Seed Company. He died of uremia at St Joseph Infirmary, and following funeral services at St Elizabeth Church, was interred at St Michael on 9 January 1953.
