Matthew Steven “Matt” Harpstrite, age 32, of Marion, IL, passed away unexpectedly Sunday morning, May 12, 2019, in Marion.
He was born on Friday, November 7, 1986, in Herrin, IL, the son of Steven L. and Pamela H. (McKinney) Harpstrite.
Matt grew up and attended school in Marion and was a member of the IUOE Local No. 318 Labor Union in Marion and was a heavy equipment operator.
He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to spend time hunting and fishing with family and friends and just spending time out in the country.
Matt will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his mother and step father, Pamela H and Phillip of Marion; father and stepmother, Steve and Lisa of Marion; his brother, and fiancé of Herrin; niece, of Herrin; maternal grandmother, Christine (McKinney) and her husband Rev. Dale of Marion, also many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Matt was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Norman “Shorty” McKinney; parental grandparents Andy and Lula Harpstrite and uncle Frank Harpstrite.
Arrangements for Matthew Steven “Matt” Harpstrite have been entrusted to Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 N. Court St., Marion.
A time of visitation and celebration of life and remembrance will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 16, 2019, at the funeral home.
