Formerly of North Apollo

John J. Brank, 84, formerly of North Apollo, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2007, in the Armstrong County Memorial Hospital, East Franklin Township. He was born Dec. 14, 1922, in Moween, Loyalhanna Township, the son of the late Frank and Rose Skepis Brank, and had lived in the area all of his life.

He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army and had been employed as a driver at Breman's Express in Leechburg, prior to his retirement.

Mr. Brank had been a member of St. James Catholic Church in Apollo and the American Legion of Kiski Township.

Survivors include two daughters, Debbie Bunting, of Apollo, and Betty Jo Brank, of North Apollo; granddaughters, Amanda Shupe and Mindy Suman; and great-granddaughters, Destiny and Carly Shupe; two brothers, Frank Brank, of Bell Township, and Dominick "Gigi" Brank, of Spring Church; and a sister, Mary Daugherty, of Pittsburgh.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys; three sisters, Josephine Fulton, Madeline Buccaro and Geraldine Valerie; and three brothers, Tony, Sam and James Brank.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in the DUNMIRE-KERR FUNERAL HOME, Vandergrift, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday.

Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery, Apollo.

The Armstrong Honor Guard will provide military honors.
