Our beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, neighbor and friend, Wayne W. Hope, 90, of Greene, Iowa left this mortal life to return to his Heavenly Father on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at the Waverly Health Center in Waverly, Iowa.
Wayne William Hope was born on January 11, 1929, the son of George Ray and Carma V. (Rock) Hope in San Bernardino, California. His family later moved to Rexburg, Idaho. Wayne grew up and attended schools in the Rexburg area and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many callings.
He married Vera Mae Baxter on June 15, 1947. To this union, 3 children were born. Marla, Reo and Valerie. They were later divorced.
He later met and married the love of his life, Nancy Ann Burden Smeldon on October 8, 1971 at Elko, Nevada. They lived in Grantsville, Utah until 1996, when they moved to Greene, Iowa. To this union, Lisa Anne Hope was born.
Survivors members of his family are his children, Marla Lewelyn, Reo Hope and Valerie Bolinder, stepdaughter, Susan Smeldon, his daughter, Lisa (Chad) Austin of Waverly, Iowa; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his beautiful wife, Nancy; his parents, brothers, Clive and Blair Hope; sister, Georgia Jeppisen and an infant brother, Sharlan and stepson, Mike Smeldon.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 24, 2019 at 11:00 am at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly, Iowa. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Greene, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly and also an hour prior to the service on Friday.
