Lorene D. Vaughn, 74, of Ames, died at her home Tuesday, July 4. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 7, at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames. Burial will be in Ames Municipal Cemetery.
Lorene was born June 28, 1932, in Fontanelle to George W. and Maysel (Means) Farmer. She married Max A. Vaughn July 2, 1950, in Ames. She worked for Rushing Super-Valu in Ames and retired from the National Animal Disease Center after 22 years. She was a former member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 37.
She enjoyed taking bus tours, quilting and doing handicrafts.
She is survived by her mother, Maysel, of Nevada; three sister-in-laws, Sharon Farmer, of Ames, Thelma Vaughn, of Boone, and Marylin (Dick) Moore, of Corydon; two brother-in-laws, Carroll (Arlene) Vaughn, of Kellogg, and Dick (Shirley) Frandson, of Story City; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her father; one sister, Betty Emery; one brother, Raymond Farmer; one brother-in-law, Eugene Vaughn; and three nephews, Marty Molyneux, Tom Moore and Mike Farmer.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, July 7, at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Youth and Shelter Services Inc. of Ames.
