Mrs. Goodwin, 85, Dies at Okra; Rites Wednesday

RISING STAR, Nov. 27 RNS ---Mrs. Annie Laura Goodwin, 85, died at her home in the Okra community northeast of Rising Star at 10:10 Monday night. She had been ill about 10 months.

Funeral will be held at 2 o'clock Wednesday at the Okra Church of Christ with Minister George Hughes officiating. Burial will be in Rising Star cemetery with Higginbotham Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Goodwin was born in Bell County April 24, 1871, and had lived in the county about 40 years. her husband died in 1941.

Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. B. S. Carton of Carbon, Mrs. S. L. Rhynes of Seagraves and Mrs. W. L. Windham of Kerrville; two sons, V. E. Goodwin of Fort Worth and Tom Goodwin of Carbon; two brothers, Frank Walker of Georgetown and Earnest Walter of Fort Worth; and three sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Houston of Mertzott, Mrs. Whitee of Brownwood and Mrs. Bellmer of Cherokee.

Daughter of Joshua B. Lawson (1841-1871) and Mary Frances Carter (1850-1931). Her father died shortly after her birth, she was his only child. Her mother remarried Thomas F. Walker. She was very confusing to search as she is listed as Lucy Ann Walker (her step-father's name) and when she married Claborn B. Goodwin she was listed as Lucy Ann Lawson, but on all other records she is listed as Annie Laura or Annie L. Goodwin.
