Billy Joe "BJ" Hall, 81 years of age, and a resident of Lorain, passed away Monday, May 13, 2019 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain, following a lengthy illness.
He was born November 25, 1937, in Jackhorn, Kentucky, where he was raised. Avon, Ohio had been his home for 37 years before moving to Lorain in 2005.
He was employed at Ford Motor Company in Brookpark for 32 years before retiring in 1991 as a parts coordinator. BJ has been a realtor for 32 years, first with Realty One and most recently with Russell Real Estate Services.
He has been a member of Toledo Road Church of Christ in Lorain for over 50 years. BJ served as a deacon and was very active with the ministry. BJ was very mechanical and built the home where he raised his family. He was the family's "fix it man." He loved gardening and listening to music, especially bluegrass. He loved real estate and occasionally "flipping houses."
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Wanda Lou Hall (nee: Bostain); his son, Kevin Hall (Meredith), of Kenosha, Wisconsin; his daughters, Karen Thompson (Terry), of Pittsboro, North Carolina, and Katrina Streiner (Paul), of Prosper, Texas; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Willa Bentley and Wanda Lee Regan; and his parents, Noah and Tressie Hall (nee: Burke).
Friends may call Wednesday, May 15, 2019, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 to 7 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Toledo Road Church of Christ, 5075 Toledo Road, Lorain. Jim Hiser, Elder, will officiate. Burial will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst.
