He was a member of Plumbers & Steamfitters Local 198 and a U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War. He received the Purple Heart and Sharpshooter Marksmanship Medal.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Emma Hafford Canezaro; three daughters and sons-in-law, Patsy and Gene Bellelo Sr., Debbie and Kerry Vallet, and Donna and Ricky Guidroz, all of Maringouin; two sons and daughters-in-law, LeRoy Jr. and Ronda Canezaro and Eddie D. and Celeste Canezaro, all of Maringouin; sisters, Rosalie Leggero of Rockford, Ill., Delores Fontenot of Jennings, and Rita Joyce Chauvin of New Roads; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Maringouin, Fordoche Masonic Lodge 292, F&AM, Acacia Shriners Temple and the Order of the Eastern Star.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Josephine Canezaro.
Pallbearers will be Harold and Ronnie Barlow, Larry Hafford, Billy Courville, John Leggor, Lennie Hafford, Michael Griffin and Carl Chustz. Honorary pallbearers are his sons and grandsons.
Visitation at First Baptist Church, 10970 La. 77, Maringouin, on Monday, May 7, was from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Visitation resumes at the church on Tuesday, May 8, from 8 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Jimmy Womack. Interment in Rosedale Cemetery.
