Howard L. Allen, age 82, of Peoria, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2019 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center. He was born February 28, 1937 in Gerlaw, IL to Harold Allen and Phoebe Melick Allen. He married Barbara Jean on July 14, 1979 in Peoria. She passed away August 7, 2006 in Peoria. Survivors include his daughter, Debi (Wayne) Cosper of Des Moines, IA; son, David Allen of Peoria; 6 grandchildren, Kim, Bill, Shawn, Ashley, Brett and Trevor; 9 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; sister, Carol Welker; many nieces and nephews; and best friend, Gary. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and siblings, Baby Lucille Jane, Helen, Beverly, Bob and Baby Charles. Howard was a truck driver for Caterpillar for 35 years. After retirement he worked for Cox Transfer for 14 years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, having served in the Vietnam Era and was stationed in Germany. He had a passion for trains, eagles, driving semi's and eating. But most of all he loved spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed but always remembered. Services will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel. Visitation will be held an hour prior. Pastor Jack Thompson will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners.
