Maude Adkins Jr., 85, died on April 23, 2019 to join his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was born on February 4, 1934 in Margaretta to the late Maude Adkins Sr. and Tecie Adkins, and was educated in Baker County schools. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.
Maude’s life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by him understand that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time that you live. Maude was generous and caring, sharing his life with family and friends, and all who passed through his life. He always had a smile on his face and a joke on his lips.
Mr. Adkins was predeceased by his parents; wives Ole Bell Adkins and Rose Adkins; siblings Thelma, Bernice, Pence, Billy, Eddie, Edward and Johnny. He is survived by children Bernard, Marian, Atkins, Vivian and Tencie Koonce; brother Laura Adkins; special niece Victoria and special nephew Wayne; ten grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service for Mr. Adkins was held on Saturday, April 27 at the New Jerusalem Church of God in Christ in Margaretta. Interment with military honors will be held at a later date at Jacksonville National Cemetery.
