J. PRESTON TANNER DIES MARION CO.

MARION - J. Preston Tanner died at 10 o'clock this morning. He was the son of the late Thomas W. Tanner of this county. He was one of Marion County's most prominent farmers, up until a few years ago, when his health failed him. His wife, Mrs. Ellen Tanner, preceeded him to the grave eleven years ago.

Surviving him are the following children: Thomas Tanner, J. Gary Tanner, Liston Tanner, O. P. Tanner, Joseph Tanner, Marion Tanner, Mrs. Lillie Bartley, Mrs. Goldie Shaw, Mrs. S. H. Holden all of this city, and Mrs. Edgar Smith of Goldsboro, NC. He is also survived by two brothers, Henry Tanner of Cades, Eli Tanner of Hemingway, one half sister, Mrs. Allen Richardson of Dillon and several grandchildren.

Funeral services in charge of the Rev. B. L. McCoy, pastor of the First Methodist church of Marion, will be held at Rose Hill cemetery Tuesday afternoon at 4 o'clock.
