Well loved Martha Doerter slipped away from us on 11/7/2017. She still survives in her loving children and husband.
Martha was born in Lebanon, Ohio in 1928 and was one of five children to Scott and Marian McClure. She is survived by one sister, Margaret Amy Hastings of Bowling Green, Ohio.
Martha was talented in many ways, and music was always with her. She was lead singer in a family Quintet and played the piano as well as the trombone in school bands. She graduated at the top of her class.
She was a quiet leader of our family and a warm, generous person. She worked for Dr. William Sammon’s office for some time and always ready for a challenge, she served 5 years on U.S. Forest Service Fire Lookout Towers with her family.
Over the years, she made many friends living in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and many years in Portland, Monmouth, Ashland and Phoenix Oregon.
The Doerters have been married for 67 years. Their first meeting was in the 5th grade. Her beloved children carry their mother’s best traits. Brian Doerter is retired in Port Angeles, Washington. David, is also retired and lives in Decatur, Alabama. Susan Doerter Collins still resides in Ashland Oregon. Martha’s husband, Jim, is currently living in Phoenix, Oregon.
Mr. B.T. Collins, Inez Doerter and Gloria Moe Doerter, have all been good additions to our family. Sue has raised 3 children and has 3 Grandchildren. Inez and David have 2 children and live in Lake Stevens, Washington.
