James Vernon Hosch was born in Athens, Texas on July 11, 1930. He was the son of the later Rev. Lonnie James Hosch and the late Kaitlee (Vernon) Hosch.

James attended the Apostolic Bible Institute in St. Paul, Minnesota, and since 1952 has been shepherding others to Christ as a Pastor of the United Pentecostal Church International. In 1953 he married the former Pamela McQueen.

The couple moved to Monroe in 1955 to assist with a mission church that had formed from an Eastside tent meeting. The very next year fueled by a growing demand the Monroe Apostolic Church, with Jim at the helm began construction on their North Monroe Street facility. Jim participated in every facet of the construction. Under the guidance and through the power of the Holy Spirit the ministry continued to blossom. James welcomed his only child, Kevin to the pulpit to assist in leading the church in 2000.

Although he was a Strong Presence, James was a collector of jokes beside souls. He loved to read the Bible and preach, and enjoyed fishing. He kept up on current events reading two to three newspapers every day. In 2002 Pamela passed away. On October 1, 2003 he married June (Shaw) Soleau Cole. Pastor James V. Hosch age 80 left this earthly life at 9:50am, Thursday, July 29, 2010. In addition to his parents and his wife: Pamela his passing was preceded by son: Kevin J. Hosch on May 18, 2009 and a sister: Naomi Caldwell.

Friends may gather from 2:00pm until 8:00pm, Sunday, August 1, 2010 at the Monroe Apostolic Church, 2535 North Monroe Street where a Celebration of His Life will take place at 1:00pm, Monday, August 2, 2010. The Rev. Bruce Leaman will officiate. Procession will follow to Roselawn Memorial Park for burial. Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185 is entrusted with arrangements.
