Wanda Jean Downing Nail was born August 23, 1931 in Gary, Texas. She was one of nine children born to James Ausborn Nail and Gladys Ford Downing. She was raised and graduated schools in Gary, Texas. Wanda married Lovis Otto Nail July 3, 1948 and they celebrated 70 years of marriage and raised two children in a loving Christian home.
Wanda worked over 20 years for the First State Bank and Trust of Carthage. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Carthage, active in the Sertruca Sunday School Class, and the library. She enjoyed her time with her children as a leader in the Blue Birds and Campfire; later in life her grandchildren were her joy and working in her flower garden. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings Lois, Margaret, Janie, Frances, Nell, James, and Sonny.
