Carl traveled to the US on board the ship Bavaria from Hamburg, Germany. At the age of 19, he traveled with his brother Andreas future wife, Wilhelminia Schmalfeldt, and arrived in New York on November 19, 1873. On December 1, 1881, he married Sophia E Meier and together they had eleven children. Adolph Christ "Otto", Sohpia E; Fred L; Carl T; John Christ; Henry Albert; Amelia C and Robert Alexander. They were farmers who farmed on Brown Road in Oregon Township, Lucas, Ohio.
