Mrs. Dowell, 65, Dies Early Today
Mrs. Montana Dowell, 65, widow of John Dowell of 2427 South G street, died at her home at 1:35 o'clock this morning of complications. She had been ill since October of 1945.
Born August 12, 1880, near Butte, Montana, she was the daughter of John and Mary Duncan. She was twice married. Her first marriage was to Harry Collins. She later married John Dowell who preceded her in death in 1944. She was a member of the First Baptist church and of the Royal Neighbors lodge.
Survivors include the following sons and daughters, Charles Dowell of Elwood, Mrs. Arvonna Sparks of Springfield, Ill., Mrs. Eugenia Wisler of Elwood, Mrs. Mary Lane of Orestes, Mrs. Florence Newport of Indianapolis, Joe Collins of Hobart, a sister, Mrs. Henry Seburn of New Albany, and four brothers, Charles Duncan of Corydon, Sanford Duncan of Pittsburg, Calif., Noble Duncan of Abaline, Texas, and Roy Duncan of Flagstaff, Arizona.
The body was removed to Robert L. Jackley funeral home where it will remain.
Funeral rites will be held from the First Baptist church Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. R. W. Sage, pastor, will be in charge. Burial will be made in the City cemetery.
The body will be taken from the Jackley funeral home to the church at noon Sunday to lie in state until the hour of the service.
