During her working life, she was Cafeteria Manager at the Monticello School in East Carroll Parrish.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Elzie Lee Smitherman, Sr., and Bjarne Johannesen; grandson Christopher Shane "Gator" Smitherman; great granddaughter Shelby Faith Smitherman; parents Arthur and Grace Manning Brantley and 5 brothers, William J., Charles Arthur, Joe Reese, Walter Lavalle, and Carl Wayne Brantley.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son Elzie Lee "Bubba" Smitherman and wife Janie, daughter Shawnee Lafitte and husband Tim; grandchildren, Rodney Lee Smitherman, Jefferey Allen Smitherman, Michael Jermey Arledge, Eric Russell Arledge; great grandchildren, Nicholas Arledge, Avery Arledge, Eric Kye Arledge, Alyssa Arledge, Branson Smitherman and Braycen Smitherman; brothers, Fate Brantley and Louis Brantley; sisters, Fronia Mae Banner, Emma Jean Desadier, Maude Rogers, and Pat Reid and a host of other family members and friends.
