Raymond Abel, 93, passed away Sunday, May 5, 2019 in Harker Heights, Texas. Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 8, at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors. Visitation will be an hour prior to service time. Interment will be in Waco Memorial Park.

Raymond was born on December 28, 1925 to Emil and Alma (Bradshaw) Abel in the McGregor area. He married the love of his life, Lee Murphree, in 1993. Raymond was a longtime resident of McLennan County, Texas. He was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church in McGregor. Raymond farmed in the Crawford area, was a grounds keeper for Baylor University and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Raymond is survived by his brother, Bobby and wife, Jane, and their family, Kelly and Kim Barr and their three children and four grandchildren, and Diane Jackson and Mark Abel and their six children, and one grandchild. Surviving families of his sister, Sarah Maydelle and her husband, Charles Micek (both deceased), are Chris Micek, his wife, Helen, and one living child, JoKay and Creighton Kerns and their four children, and Andrew Kargol, son of Chardel Micek Kargol (deceased).
