Viola Powers Weatherford, 92, of Richmond, died Tuesday, March 13, 2001. She was a member of St. Matthew's United Methodist Church and the widow of William Weatherford. Surviving are four sons, Orman C., Herbert J., Eldridge F. and Theodore L. Lane, all of Richmond; three daughters, Dorothy A. Ross, Barbara L. Cole of Richmond, and Jeanette L. Payne of Powhatan; three sisters, Carrie P. Napier and Althea P. Smith, both of Richmond, and Inez P. Perry of Harrisonburg, Va.; 18 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Remains rest at the West Chapel of the Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 W. Broad St., Glen Allen, where the family will receive friends Thursday evening, March 15, from 5 until 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 16, 11a.m. at St. Matthew's United Methodist Church, with interment to follow in the church cemetery. Memorial donations my be made to St. Matthew's United Methodist Church.
