Henry Allen Sawyer, 81, of Holton, KS, formerly of Soldier, KS, passed away Friday, May 3, 2019 at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka. He was born January 16, 1938 in Soldier, KS, the son of Elmer F. and Ellen H. (Guffey) Sawyer.

Henry graduated from Soldier High School in 1956. He proudly served in the Army National Guard for 7 years. He served 4 years in infantry and 3 years as Military Police. He worked many years for Dupont Corporation in Tecumseh, KS.

He was a member of Soldier Christian Church and former member of Soldier Lions Club.

Survivors include a daughter, Stacy Ann Sawyer; a son, Virgil Sawyer; brother, Junior Sawyer of Topeka, KS and his friend/caretaker, Linda Espiritu (Chuck Wahweotten) of Topeka, KS.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Agnes Tannahill and 2 brothers, Wilbur and James Sawyer.

Memorial visitation will be 5:00 – 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 9, 2019 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Memorials may be given to the Mercer Funeral Home to help with expenses c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66346.
