He was proceeded in death by his parents, brother Trenton Ward, two sisters Thelma Iuta Summerlin and Judy Gail Ward, son-in-law Dennis Gross and granddaughter Kristin J. Ward.

He is survived by his wife Marjorie L. Ward and his three children, Robert “Frank” Ward of Memphis, TN, Cathy Gross of Memphis, TN and John Ward (Renee) of Bartlett, TN as well as two brothers Lonnie Ward (Joann) of Smyrna, TN and Toy T. Ward, Jr. of Jackson, TN and sister Gerlene McBee of Paris, TN.

He leaves behind 12 grandchildren, Wendy, Daniel, Cory (Allen), Amanda (Jimmy), Brad (Amy), Samantha (David), Adam, Kelli (Casey), Chris (Lauren), Brittani (Glen), Johnathan (Lauren), Kirstin (Michael) and so far has been blessed with 17 great grandchildren, Kayla, Jackson, Hannah, Jamerson, Talan, Clayton, Avery, Ally Grace, Harrison, Charlie, Adeline, Macie, Karson, Paxton, Mattis, M.J. and Andrew.

Louie is a Veteran of the United States Army who proudly served his county during WWII. PFC Ward fulfilled his duty as a Military Policeman and Guard-Patrolman.

He met his wife of 73 years during the war. His mother brought his military photo to a church event and asked the single girls to correspond with him. Marjorie was the only young lady to oblige Mrs. Wards request. They were married on March 4, 1946 and relocated to Memphis, TN. Louie retired from the Memphis Defense Depot in the 80’s but kept working in the family business he started back in 1969, Ward and Sons Roofing.

Louie was an active member of Balmoral Baptist Church and ordained as a deacon in 1989. The life-long friendships he developed there are one-of a kind and cherished by his entire family. He loved traveling, camping with the Memphis Sam’s chapter of the Good Sam Club and deep-sea fishing. His favorite spot was the white sand beaches on the Florida Gulf Coast and he took his family there whenever the opportunity arose. Louie was a great storyteller, he always had an account, joke or tall-tail to share with anyone that would listen and some that wouldn’t. His grandchildren’s favorite memories are all the silly songs he would teach them over the generations.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to all Ward and Sons employees, friends, neighbors and nurses that prayed with, brought food, visited and tended to his needs.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave., Memphis, TN
