Clifford Frank Burns, 56, of Smithville, Texas, was called to his eternal rest Wednesday, March 20, 2019.

Cliff was born on December 27, 1962 in Hillsboro, Texas to Delores and Woody Burns. He was raised in Smithville, Texas alongside his two brothers Steve and Jeff Burns. He graduated from Smithville High School in 1981. In 1982, he married his High School sweetheart and love of his life, Marilyn Bunte. Together, they built the life they loved raising their two children; Clinton and Kayla. He devoted his life to his wife and children instilling values that will be carried on through generations. Known as Paw Paw to his four grandchildren, whom he loved and adored, he always ensured they knew his love for them was beyond measure, that no matter how busy life gets to take time for the ones you love, and to rest in the Grace that comes through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

He worked at LCRA for 27 years. After retiring from LCRA, he fostered his entrepreneurial spirit and conquered his lifelong dream of owning and operating a successful business, Smithville Food Lockers.
Although he was taken from this earth unexpectedly, the way Cliff lived his life enabled his loved ones to know without waiver that he loved them with all he had and they can move forward in peace, knowing that they will all one day be reunited in heaven. His life and legacy is one to be admired and emulated.

He is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn of Smithville; his children, Clinton and wife Cammy Burns of Smithville; Kayla and husband Brandon Herschap of Smithville; four grandchildren, Cannon Burns, Cason Herschap, Brooks Burns, Hallie Herschap; mother, Delores Burns “Grandy” of Smithville; brother, Jeff and wife Karla Burns of Smithville; as well as numerous extended family and friends.

Cliff was preceded in death by his father, Woody Burns Jr.; brother, Steve Burns.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Grace Lutheran Church, Smithville, Texas.

Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Sunday, March 24, 2019 at Marrs Jones Funeral Home Chapel in Smithville, Texas.

Funeral Services will begin at 2:00 PM on Monday, March 25, 2019 at Grace Lutheran Church of Smithville, Texas with burial following at Oak Hill Cemetery in Smithville, Texas.
