He was born February 21, 1935 in Big Rapids, the son of John and Reva (Sawyer) Westover, and graduated from Big Rapids High School in 1953.
On August 1, 1958, he married the love of his life, Anna Pearl Newberry, and together they made their home in Big Rapids.
Jim was a lifetime member of the First Baptist Church of Big Rapids. He was a plumber by trade, retiring from Ferris State University in 1997. Jim enjoyed traveling, camping, and spending time with his family and friends. He was known for his horsey rides and his "famous" French toast, and he loved following streams and chasing waterfalls. Jim was there to lend a hand whenever needed, and enjoyed special Wednesday lunches with his daughters and sisters-in-law.
Jim is survived by his five children, Debra (Patrick) Morlan, Violet (Jeff) Fullmer, Rose (Chuck) Healey, James (Kimberly) Westover, and Daniel Westover; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brothers, Linn and David (Marge) Westover; sister, Mary McGuire; sisters-in-law, Pennie Newberry, Patricia Taylor, Donna Jones, and Terrie (Jeff) Morey; special cousin, Vonnie Routley; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by Anna Pearl in 2016; his parents; his granddaughter, JoAnna Westover; his sisters, Beverly Inman and Winona Beukema; and his brother, Jack Westover.
He will truly be missed by those that loved him.
Memorial services will be 1:00 p.m., May 18, 2019 at the First Baptist Church in Big Rapids, with Pastor Bob King officiating. Burial will be in the South Grant Center Cemetery.
