Leo C. "Pete" Turnbull, Jr, age 80, Joplin, passed away on Wednesday, June 13, 2007 at 4:56 a.m. at St. John's Regional Medical Center. Pete was born August 24, 1926 in Joplin, son of the late Leo C. Turnbull and Bertha Maude Shelton Turnbull. He served in the United States Navy during World War II before returning to Joplin where he graduated from Joplin High School, and attended Joplin Junior College. He married Lois R. Creech on May 16, 1948, and the couple moved to California in December of 1949. Pete graduated from Pasadena Playhouse with a degree in Theatre. He worked as an actor in television and the movies during the 1950's and 1960's, and later worked in sales for several years. The couple moved back to Joplin in April 2006.

Pete was a member of Byers Avenue United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Lois R. Turnbull; a son, Leo Turnbull, III; two daughters, Joanna Turnbull of Lamar, MO, and Marian Turnbull of Glendale, CA; granddaughter, Stephanie Hatch of Glendale, CA.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Steve Blacksher. Interment will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery.
