Louisa was born 12 October 1842 in Illischestie, Bukowina, Austria to Heinrich Wendell Zachman and Margaretha Ast. She was baptized 16 December 1842. Louisa was married 5 June 1859 to Heinrich Rumpel and they had 11 children. Heinrich died in 1881. Traveling with her daughter, Eva Rumpel Uhrich, son-in-law Friederich, and granddaughter, Stefanie, Louisa arrived in Halifax, Nova Scotia on the ship Niagara in April 1913. They settled in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada where she lived for the rest of her life.
